A Quick Intermission

Today, I made the utterly tragic mistake of looking at my calendar.

I love it here even more now that fall has started to give in to winter. The leaves litter the cobblestone, and the weather has started to dip its toes into the forties. Hats and gloves (of which I have neither, though I’ve learned warm coffee doubles as a great hand warmer) have come out. Mulled wine, movie nights, and a myriad of blankets have become staples in our apartment. Now we’re getting into the whole hygge thing.

This, surprisingly, is bittersweet for me. On one hand, I miss my family and cannot wait to play tour guide and explore Scandinavia with them over Christmas. On the other, I love it here. I don’t want to leave my friends, or my LLC, or this city (or country. Or continent, for that matter).

I’m kind of in a little limbo stage between traveling – we had two full weeks back in Copenhagen in between London and my week off. In the meantime, we’ve been making use of the fall weather and doing random things around Denmark.

Last Sunday, my roommates and I rented a car (!!!) and drove two hours south to Møns Klint: almost 4 miles of chalk cliffs that stretch the eastern seaside of one of the Danish islands. We walked through the forest before eventually journeying down 962 steps (also !!!) to get to the beach and see the cliffs from below. Since we rented a car, we also got to have a little road trip, which was a lot of fun and much-needed (sometimes you just need to jam out to Bowling for Soup’s “1985” with the girls, ya know?)

Last night, my friends and I went to Tivoli for the Halloween season! We got super lucky and get to experience three of Tivoli’s seasons: summer, Halloween, and Christmas! I’ll let you know at the end of the semester which season I liked best (spoiler alert: right now it’s Halloween). My friends convinced (re: bullied) me into doing the tall swing ride (one of the tallest swings in the world!!!), and while I panicked the entire time, it was definitely worth it just to see all of the orange lights glowing throughout the park below.

Tomorrow, my friends and I leave for our week of traveling, starting with Vienna. From there, we’ll journey on to Prague and then wrap up next week in Berlin before returning home to Copenhagen. Right now, I’m most excited for Prague, but I have a feeling I might be in for a surprise when it comes to Berlin. (:
